Some time, about sixteen years ago on the Discworld, a wagon was attacked by bandits. There was a family—a mother, a father, and a child—and the parents were killed. The child lived, and was eventually found by dwarfs and adopted by the local leader. They hoped he would grow out of growing, but he never really did, and is now a broad-shouldered, six foot six, red-haired-blue eyed boy with, according to some sources, “a godlike body.” He was named Carrot, very literally, due to his… somewhat carrot-like shape (broad shoulders and narrow waist). Up until a few weeks ago, he thought he was a dwarf, the same as everybody else—or rather, everybody else except Mr. Varneshi. But then his parents told him about whom he really is and packed him off to Ankh-Morpork to join the Night Watch there.
He’s an idealist and an innocent in every way possible—and he also knows the entire law book by heart, despite having yet to spend a day in the city. In other information about the sixteen-year-old, he has a birthmark at the top of his left arm, in the shape of a crown. He also has a very old sword, a couple of feet long, and very old. There might have once been an inscription on it, but if there was, it has long since been worn away. It is the most unmagical sword the dwarfs had ever seen, something which is actually somewhat odd considering that magic on the Discworld is, after all, similar to magnetism. If anything, it is the essence of “sword.” He also, it should be noted, doesn’t know what sex is. He’s a sweet, innocent young boy. He is also oddly charismatic, and has a gift for getting people to do what he wants them to do without any effort. He believes people are fundamentally good, and for a moment, those around him believe it because he does.
It’s like he shapes the world around him, somehow. It’s almost like magic.
